CRL V2200 Thermalbond® Tape is a semi-rigid foam tape with an aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive. This high density tape has a specially formulated cellular substrate, and is used as a spacer for joint dimension control in structural silicone glazing systems. It is the most widely used spacer tape for structural silicone systems.
V2100 has proven to be compatible with all commercial silicone sealants used for structural glazing. It has a highly aggressive adhesive on both sides, and a semi-rigid, open cell structure that maintains the required spacing, and allows air and moisture to reach the silicone to allow optimum curing. Its low conductivity reduces heat transfer and inhibits condensation on windows, doors, and metal systems.
V2100 Tape is designed as a spacer for glass, metal, stone, mineral cement, and plastic panels in structural silicone glazing systems. This includes: two and four sided structural silicone glazing of curtain walls, storefronts, skylights and windows; to temporarily secure glazing or panels to framework in shop fabrication of unitized structural silicone glazing and cladding systems; to temporarily secure lightweight veneers to substrates while permanent structural silicone adhesives are curing; as a thermal break to reduce the conduction of heat; to provide an even sight line in vision areas. It is stocked only in an architectural black finish (other colors available on special order), and in nine stock sizes. Other sizes are also available on special order.
Limitations
NOTE: Thermalbond® V2100 is a SPACER material and not intended to be a structural component. The adhesive properties cannot be used as part of the permanent fastening system or in any way to reduce the amount of silicone adhesive recommended by the silicone manufacturer. Contact surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned. Position V2100 carefully, as it cannot be repositioned after initial contact. With some surfaces, it may be necessary to prime the surface with Norton Tite-R-Bond Adhesion Promoter.
